A Secure Neighborhood That Feels Familiar
The SPARC Memory Care Unit is thoughtfully designed to balance safety with independence. Residents are able to move freely within a secure neighborhood that supports safe wandering, while controlled access helps reduce unnecessary noise, traffic, and overstimulation.
Every element of the environment is designed to feel more predictable and familiar. For individuals living with memory loss, consistency in surroundings can play an important role in reducing anxiety and supporting daily comfort.
Within the unit, residents enjoy:
A dedicated dining area
Specialized activity spaces
Comfortable common areas
Access to a secured outdoor courtyard for fresh air and movement
Specialized Dementia Training That Makes a Difference
A key part of our SPARC program is the consistency and training of the team who care for residents each day.
Nurses, CNAs, and activity staff assigned to the unit receive specialized dementia training and are certified through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. This training helps caregivers better understand the changes that come with cognitive decline while providing practical techniques to communicate effectively, reduce anxiety, and support residents in a calm and reassuring way.
Consistency matters in memory care. Because the same caregivers work regularly within the neighborhood, relationships are built on familiarity, trust, and understanding of each resident’s individual routines and preferences.
Therapy Support Built Into Daily Life
Our therapy team is fully integrated into the community, meaning therapists are part of the daily environment rather than rotating in and out of the building. This allows them to better understand each resident’s needs and adjust care in real time.
Physical, occupational, and speech therapy services are available on-site, with speech therapy playing an especially important role in supporting communication and swallowing challenges often associated with memory-related conditions.
This coordinated approach helps support function, comfort, mobility, and quality of life as residents’ needs evolve over time.
Purposeful Programming Through SPARC
The SPARC program is centered on structured, meaningful engagement that reflects the daily routines and life experiences residents are most familiar with.
Activities are intentionally designed in shorter, more manageable timeframes and repeated throughout the day to reinforce comfort and familiarity. Rather than overstimulating environments or complicated schedules, programming is focused on helping residents stay engaged in ways that feel natural and achievable.
Daily engagement may include:
- Music and sensory activities
- Life skill-based routines
- Social interaction and group activities
- One-on-one engagement
- Familiar daily tasks and structured routines
Social connection remains an important part of well-being. Through shared meals, activities, and meaningful interaction, residents are encouraged to maintain connection with others in a supportive and welcoming environment.
Kind Words
“One of the things that mattered most to our family was knowing my mom didn’t have to keep moving as her needs changed. She’s been able to stay in the same environment, with the same caregivers who know her routines and what comforts her. That consistency has made such a difference—not just for her, but for all of us.”“
– FAMILY MEMBER
A Thoughtful Approach to Aging in Place
The SPARC Memory Care Unit is designed to support residents over time, not just during one stage of care.
We prioritize consistency in caregivers, environment, and routines to minimize unnecessary transitions that can often feel disruptive for individuals living with dementia. Maintaining familiar surroundings and trusted relationships helps create greater comfort and stability for both residents and families.
Our goal is to provide an environment where residents can continue to feel safe, known, and supported each day.
